Volunteer Training
Becoming a hospice volunteer is a rewarding experience.

The following is what you will need prior to the training classes:
​

You will be provided or can download a volunteer application.

Barbara Barnett, the director, will conduct a short pre-training interview.
-
A background check will be done for all volunteers at the completion of the five-day training
-
A private vehicle is mandatory to be a volunteer.
-
Eight hours of continuing education every year per Maine state guidelines.
The five-day class covers the following topics:

Ethical issues at the end of life

Family dynamics

Personal death awareness: Grief, Loss, Transition
